Artificial intelligence possesses vast potential to benefit a wide range of fields. However, because it learns from datasets derived from human behavior and culture, it inevitably inherits human flaws.

AI technologies have the potential to widen existing gender inequalities, a particularly troubling issue given that many users remain unaware of these biases while they engage with the systems. This book aims to raise awareness of gender bias against women by presenting six cases in which distorted perceptions—shaped by society and visual culture—make their way into the virtual space and, ultimately, into AI systems that are no longer fully under our control.
